App of the week

The second instalment of the 'App of the week' post covers something I've mentioned briefly, but deserves more credit - Browser Texting (http://bit.ly/xblXna).

This is an android only app that allows you to have your texts forwarded to your computer. After downloading the app you can link up to your computer through either a Firefox/Chrome addon (which gives a chat window within your browser) or by linking your phone to the Browser Texting website. The Firefox/Chrome addon couldn't be simpler, where you open the app on your phone, then scan a QR code on your browser and you're away!

There are a number of features available from group chats to encryption between the browser and phone, although a subscription is required after the 30 day trial. Subscription costs £6 for a year, which is hardly anything considering how useful it is!

  1. Does airdroid not let you do the same thing?

  2. It does a similar thing, however you need to be connected to WIFI and fiddle about with IP addresses. This app simply scans the QR code and the connection is done!
